North Quabbin Farms Offer Fresh Local Products and Support Local Food Pantries
Fall 2009 - Support local food pantries and local farmers at The 7th Annual Thanksgiving Harvest Festival with fresh food for your holiday table and great music throughout the weekend. The event, hosted by the Red Apple Farm in Phillipston, will be held on November 21st and 22nd from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. In the spirit of the holiday, you can get 1/2 off the $2 admission by bringing a non-perishable food donation, which will be used to support local food pantries. For every 5 non-perishable food donations, receive a chance to win great prizes such as a Wachusett Mountain ski package.
Over 30 North Quabbin farmers and crafters will offer everything for your holiday table: farm raised turkeys, cranberries, vegetables, breads, herbs, honey, cheeses, pies, apples, and more.
The Harvest X-Games will feature The World Wood Stacking Competition, Archery Turkey Shoot, Hay bale tossing competition and the New England Home Brew and Hard Cider Compatition!
Music will fill the air with an impressive list of musicians including Fern and Rita, The Andover Celi Band, Luis Gonzalez, Francis Doughty, Nate Smith and more.
Families can enjoy hay rides, farm animals, and guided nature walks with North Quabbin Woods. Press your own fresh apple cider on an old-fashioned cider press. Experts will demonstrate pie making, blacksmithing, wreath and bow making, and growing garlic. Warm alpaca and wool products will also be for sale.
Hungry visitors can gobble up smoked turkey drumsticks, southern fried chicken, hot apple dumplings, fresh fudge, and more.
Al Rose, owner of the Red Apple Farm, describes the event, "It’s all about community. We’re local farmers committed to providing fresh foods and helping others less fortunate. We’re offering something for everyone."
